Thames Water fined over traffic chaos in Newbury
It was fixing a visible leak in the carriageway which required urgent repair.
Thames Water has been fined for causing traffic chaos at Hambridge Road in Newbury at the weekend.
It closed the road, but told the council that the traffic management for this work was multi-way signals.

Thames Water has apologised for the error and have been issued with an fixed penalty notice by West Berkshire Council for incorrect permit details
They have advised that the leak is fixed and they are working to have it reinstated by Monday (October13).
In September, Thames Water was convicted of illegally discharging raw sewage into West Berkshire waterways and on to adjoining land.
The affected sites include a Newbury fishing lake, the Kennet and Avon Canal and the Moor Stream which feeds into local water meadows.
No details of the fine it will receive have been published.
