A Sheffield peer has written to the King and Prime Minister of Thailand calling on both to intervene in the ongoing Sheffield Wednesday ownership saga.

Lib Dem Shaffaq Mohammed is backing a campaign from the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters' Trust to pressure owner, Thai businessman Dejphon Chansiri, to sell up.

Earlier this month a group of supporters made the journey to London to protest outside the Thai Embassy.

It follows months of controversy surrounding the Chairman and owner, with months of unpaid wages, safety issues at Hillsborough going unaddressed and a string of senior players leaving over the summer.

While the start to Wednesday's season hasn't been catastrophic, with Owls' youngsters putting in fighting performances in the League Cup, Wednesday still sit 23rd in the Championship.
