Man, 40, taken to hospital after being attacked in centre of Melrose

Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked in the centre of Melrose at the weekend.

The incident - described by police as a "serious assault" - unfolded on Scott's Place, close to the local pubs and takeaway, between 10pm an 11pm on Saturday (July 26th).

And the 40-year-old victim was taken to Borders General Hospital for treatment before being released.

The suspect is described as a white man, believed to be aged in his mid-30s.

He was wearing a khaki-green Regatta jacket, black Adidas joggers with a white stripe, a black and white snood and a khaki coloured Under Armour cap.

Detective Sergeant Liam Myers, of Police Scotland, said: “Enquiries are ongoing to trace the man described and we are asking anyone in the area at the time of the assault who may have information that could assist to get in touch.

“Please check any private CCTV or dash-cam footage that you have to see if anything has been captured that could help with our investigation.”
