A man has been charged with attempted murder after a police officer was injured during a disturbance in Hawick.
Emergency services were called to an address in the town's Howdenbank - which looks onto the rear of the region's main police station - around 10am on Saturday (July 26th).
Alastair Turnbull faced a total of four charges when he appeared in private at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today (Monday).
As well as assault to danger of life and attempted murder, the 35-year-old is also accused of having in a public place an article with a blade or point; and two counts of assault.
Turnbull, who gave an address in Hawick, made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
He is expected to return to court within the next eight days.
In a statement released following the incident, Police Scotland said one officer was injured while responding to a disturbance but did not need further treatment, while a 35-year-old man was taken to hospital.
In an appeal for information, Detective Sergeant Kim Allan described it as "a contained incident" on a quiet residential street.
They added: "Anyone with information or footage that could help our investigation, should contact 101, quoting reference 1184 of July 26th, 2025."
