About Paul McBride
One of our most experienced voices on air, Paul has been working in radio since 1985. “Following many years as a mobile & club DJ, I also became a volunteer at Ulster Hospital Radio in 1985, moving on to Radio Top Shop, Fever 40, Belfast 89 and then joined Downtown in 2016.
Paul’s a self-confessed petrol head, he’s been racing motorbikes since a schoolboy and still does. Other hobbies include travelling, Liverpool F.C and driving.
Who is your favourite musician and why?
“I like most genres of music, but my first preference would be Country. It’s so tough to select a favourite artist, but the legend Merle Haggard is right up there!”
What’s been your all-time favourite gig and why?
“U.S. Country star Martina McBride in Belfast…what a natural talent and what a voice! I love to get to local gigs as well to hear our own Irish Country stars.”
