About Gary Myles

Gary began his career with us back in year 2000 on sister station Cool FM where he presented weekend shows as well as filling in across the schedule when required. He has since been a breakfast staple on Downtown for almost a decade now and is joined on the show by his long time friend and colleague Glen Pavis.

The boys have worked together on air since 2018 and Gary described what they do each morning in the studio as “a couple of mates having the craic and playing great music. We love chatting about everyday things which people can relate to and relive plenty of memories along the way. It’s great when listeners get involved and you’ll often hear me say that their input is our output”.

The pair are forever playing pranks on each other but one of the best was when Glen, unknown to Gary, give Robbie Williams the heads up that Gary and his wife Carol-Ann were expecting their second child just prior to an on air interview. “We had only told our closest family and next thing Robbie announced it to everyone before the rest of our relatives or friends knew. It was one of the few times I was left speechless, he certainly got me a cracker”.

Gary spent many years working as club DJ across the province and says one of the highlights was when he and Glen got asked to warm up for “Cher” at the SSE in Belfast. “We put together a set of the biggest party songs we could squeeze in and loved every minute of playing to a sold out arena”.

Time off is spent being a Dad and Gary enjoys nothing more than time with family and friends. He is also a qualified accountant and financial advisor and spent many years working in radio more as a hobby prior to taking over the breakfast show. “I’ve always been really into music and had a passion for radio, it’s fantastic to have the opportunity to do a job you love” he says.
