Love Island fans defend Hugo as Islanders brand him 'too nice'
Nobody stepped forward for the P.E. teacher
It was the moment we've all been waiting for last night, as the hugely-anticipated seventh series of Love Island kicked off, with 10 stunning Islanders entering the villa out in sunny Mallorca.
As always, the first episode involved the first coupling up of the series, with host Laura Whitmore in attendance to keep the sexy singletons under control.
Excited viewers took to social media in their thousands to express their early love for 24-year-old P.E. teacher Hugo Hammond, after none of the girls stood forward for him in the first coupling.
Of course, Hugo wasn't the only one, the girls left semi-professional footballer Toby Aromolaran on the subs bench too, but it was Hugo's kind-hearted personality that really stole the hearts of viewers.
Later on in the episode Hugo tidied up and brought back fresh drinks for his fellow Islanders, but he was branded 'too nice' by a number of the girls, including Sharon Gaffka and Faye Winter.
Despite not being the favourite with his co-stars, Hugo, who was born with clubfoot, is a clear early favourite with viewers...
One fan wrote: 'I’m rooting for Hugo and Hugo only #loveisland', with another adding: 'I’m ready to defend hugo at all times! he deserves better! #LoveIsland'. (sic)
A third wrote: 'Guys I actually love Hugo so much. He seems so kind and genuine and everyone needs to get off his case for being 'being too shy' otherwise I'm flying out to have a word with them'.
Another commented: 'Need more respect for my boy Hugo, everyone pushing him away just because he's 'too nice'.'

Many fans of the hit ITV2 show were also quick to compare Hugo to past Islanders including Curtis Pritchard and Dr Alex George.
Meanwhile, although he's coupled up with civil servant Sharon Gaffka at the moment, some how we don't see this lasting, especially after the 25-year-old confessed she doesn't think she has any chemistry with him during last night's opening show.
