Here's what Love Island would look like if it was filmed in Glasgow... 🤣

Glasgow Does Love Ayeland!

After the 2020 series of Love Island was postponed, Scottish voiceover Iain Stirling has now hinted that the 2021 series could be filmed in the UK, following the success of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here at Gwrych Castle in North Wales.

So, we considered whether the show could work in Glasgow. Where could we host the most-talked-about show? If we swap the Blue Lagoon of Majorca for the Blue Lagoon in Sauchiehall Street, can it still work? Course it will! Read on for our take on how Glasgow Does Love Ayeland!

We are already ahead of the game, with the most popular narrator on TV being a proud Scot. Iain Stirling is one of the show’s real winners. With his quick quips, he says what we are all really thinking and gets away with it.

And let's face it, Iain has never de-Scotified his thoughts for a UK audience; we recall the line last season when he described a date in a vineyard ‘ah wine in a vineyard, well when I say wine, I mean Special Brew, and when I say vineyard I mean a park!’.

Parks Make Glasgow

Speaking of parks, we think our lovely green spaces are almost the perfect setting for the coupling sessions. Ok, the rain and the midgies might not be as seductive as the fire pit in the villa, but we did say almost.

Kelvingrove’s iconic park would be a lovely place for the boys and girls to make those oh-so-heartfelt speeches about who they are choosing to couple with. Kelvingrove sees plenty of ‘taps aff’ action already, so it’s a good match. And who wouldn’t love a date in Pollok Park? The idyllic parkland, romantic gardens and em... Highland coos!

The weather can’t spoil any Ayeland fun either, with Glasgow Botanic Gardens and its lovely Kibble Palace. The warm exotic venue gets our vote for introducing the new singletons and tempting the coupled contestants amongst the tropical flowers and palm trees. See Majorca, we can do palm trees too.

Loch Lomond – Inchmurrin Island

Whenever you mention that ‘little island’ in Loch Lomond to local folk, they immediately know the place you are referring to. In actual fact, there are around 20 islands around Loch Lomond, but Inchmurrin is the one we all know.

That is why Inchmurrin would be a perfect setting for Love Ayeland, with our hot contestants chugging across the Loch on the good old waterbus. Plus, instead of Casa Amor, we have our very own Castle Amor!

Ok, so it's actually the ruins of the old castle of the Earl of Lennox, but everyone knows castles are romantic, even dilapidated ones. In fact, we think the castle ruins and Inchmurrin itself could be the perfect place for the show’s ‘hideaway’, the special private retreat. It might get a bit chilly, but it is definitely hidden away!

The Barras

…requires no introduction and we think it has got to make an appearance on the show. We would love for one of the texts sent to read, ‘You are going on a date with Gaz doon the Barras #getdolledup #donderandwinch’.

The show finale has to be somewhere we all know and love, a good old weegie pub, and it is the Horseshoe Bar which gets our vote. What better place for the show’s climax, unveiling the winners and then the tantalising moment when we find out if the holder of the winning envelope will split the prize or just split.

The final scenes may not be the sweeping panoramic of the villa and the island, but we love the thought of our winners heading off arm-in-arm into a soggy Glasgow sunset, belting out their favourite songs from the legendary Horseshoe karaoke.

Although nothing has been confirmed just yet, we've decided to take a look at all of the possible (weird and wonderful) locations across the UK and Ireland that the show could take place:
