Gogglebox's Pete Sandiford reveals why he can't quit job despite show's success

Since it hit our screens way back in 2013, it's safe to say Gogglebox is one of the most popular shows on the box, which is slightly ironic considering it's success is people watching other people watch TV...
Having kick-started the careers of the likes of Scarlett Moffatt and Steph and Dom Parker, many would think the current cast may be able to give up their day jobs thanks to the success, however, it seems that is not the case.
Gogglebox favourite Pete Sandiford, who appears on the Channel 4 show alongside his sister Sophie, attended the TRIC Awards in London this week, where he was asked if he'd consider quitting his day job as a roofer.
Speaking to the press, Pete said: "We just saw Eamonn Holmes. I am just a builder from Blackpool, so it is a bit strange when celebrities know us. I was on a roof yesterday."
Pete later admitted he has a mortgage to pay, so wouldn't be able to quit his roofing job.
Do the cast of Gogglebox get paid?
They do! Although the official figure hasn't been confirmed by bosses, it's understood the Gogglebox cast get paid £1500 per month for appearing, as well as a number of free takeaways.
Although the usual version of Gogglebox isn't currently on our screens, with the new series expected in September, fans are enjoying Celebrity Gogglebox, which features a whole host of famous faces including Anne-Marie, Rylan Clark and Lorraine Kelly.
