New guest stars announced for Netflix's Wednesday season 3

Production on Wednesday season three officially began back in February this year, near Dublin Ireland, when Netflix confirmed new and returning stars for the hit Addams Family spin-off. Now, just a couple of months later, the streaming giant has announced some more cast members who will be making guest appearances in the new season when it is released.

As fans eagerly await the next season of Wednesday, find out more about the record-breaking series - with season one becoming Netflix's most-watched English language series of all time - and season two becoming the fifth most-watched English language series on Netflix.

Who is cast in Wednesday season 3?

On Thursday 9th April, Netflix announced three famous faces would be joining the third season as guest stars. They include: Lena Headey (Game of Thrones, The Abandons), Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo’s Fire, Brats) and James Lance (Ted Lasso).

The news was announced on social media, with photos of the actors alongside the caption: 'Every nightmare needs new faces.'

On 23rd February 2026, Netflix served fans a teaser on social media, unveiling the names of returning cast members on dinner plates and place cards along a table spread, with some fresh names joining the feast next season.

Cast members Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice, Stranger Things), Chris Sarandon (Dog Day Afternoon, The Princess Bride), Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones), Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Gotham Knights) and Kennedy Moyer (Task, Roofman), among others, where announced in February 2026.

They joined previously announced addition Eva Green (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Dark Shadows), who will play Wednesday’s Aunt Ophelia and sister to Morticia Addams, alongside returning cast members Jenna Ortega (Scream VI, X), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago, Traffic) and Luis Guzmán (Boogie Nights, Traffic).

Speaking about the upcoming season, show bosses Al Gough and Miles Millar said: “It’s our dark delight to fling open Nevermore Academy’s gates once more as we begin production on Season Three. We thank our invincible cast and crew for their continued commitment to doom and gloom. To the fans, we appreciate your patience and ravenous online commentary - your twisted theories have inspired nightmares. This season we welcome new students, new teachers, and excavate some long-rotting Addams Family secrets. Don’t say you weren’t warned.”

Director Tim Burdon added: “I'm so excited to be back for Season 3 and it’s great to be reunited with all of the original cast. The addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine - Winona, Eva, Chris, Noah…makes this season extra special. I feel very lucky.”

Will there be a third series?

Yes – Netflix first announced the third season in July 2025 ahead of Wednesday season two's release, and has now confirmed production on season three started on 23rd February 2026. They have also confirmed a number of cast members, listed above.

What is Wednesday season 3 about?

Wednesday Addams’ misadventures show no sign of slowing down any time soon. "Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can," says show boss AI Gough.

"We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday."

Co-creator Miles Millar adds: "We will be seeing more Addams family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!"

When is Wednesday season 3 out?

As production has only just started, we’ll keep consulting our crystal balls for future updates 🔮. For now, show bosses are keeping their mouths firmly stitched: “Sure, but then I’d have to bury you in a shallow grave," he teased to Netflix Tudum.

How to watch Wednesday seasons 1 and 2

The first series of Wednesday premiered globally on Netflix on 23rd November 2022 and is still available to watch on the streaming service, season two is also available to watch.

What is the show about?

The series was created by Tim Burton and stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, along with Jenna Ortega, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez, in the well-known roles of Morticia, Wednesday, Gomez and Pugsley Addams.

Wednesday season one

The trailer, released back in August 2022, teased Wednesday Addams on her own for the first time, having been expelled from the human high school, because of an incident involving piranhas in the swimming pool!

After being sent off to a school for unique students, Wednesday finds herself at Nevermore Academy along with some other teens, who could be just as unusual as she is... 👀.

Before the series dropped, Netflix teased what we could expect from the show, sharing a black and white photo of the four iconic characters on Instagram, simply writing: '@wednesdaynetflix teaser coming tomorrow...'.

Who was in the cast of Wednesday Season One?

The full season one cast included Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), Gwendoline Christie (Principal Larissa Weems), Jamie McShane (Sheriff Galpin), Percy Hynes White (Xavier Thorpe), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Naomi J Ogawa (Yoko Tanaka), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger), Georgie Farmer (Ajax Petropolus), Riki Lindhome (Dr. Valerie Kinbott), with Christina Ricci (Marilyn Thornhill).

Additional Cast: Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) and Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams).

Wednesday season two

In the behind-the-scenes footage released in 2024, Jenna Ortega reprised her infamous role of Wednesday Addams, and in the trailer we get to see more of the action. Alongside the world-renowned Tim Burton, they amped up the excitement even more.

Wednesday Season 2 was released on Netflix in two parts in 2025: Part one dropped on 6th August 2025, and part two released on 3rd September 2025. 

On 23rd April 2025, the teaser trailer was released showing Wednesday going through an airport security check and revealing all of the forbidden items she's carrying. This scene is in the first six minutes of the season, which was released on 31st May 2025.

Jenna Ortega of course returned to her infamous role of Wednesday Addams, with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo now exalted to series regulars.

Lady Gaga also guest starred in part two of series two as Rosaline Rotwood. Netflix shared a first look photo on 1st September 2025, writing: 'a vision in venom 🕷️ here’s your first look at Lady Gaga as Rosaline Rotwood'.

What streaming record did Wednesday break?

A week after the show landed on the streaming platform in 2022, it was revealed that Wednesday had already broken Netflix records, racking up the most hours viewed in a single week of any Netflix TV show ever — a record previously held by the fourth season of Stranger Things.

Netflix confirmed the news in a statement, saying: 'Being an outcast has never been more IN as Wednesday, the supernatural infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years at Nevermore Academy, debuted in the #1 spot with a record-breaking 341.2M hours viewed.'

They continued: 'The series now holds the record for the most hours viewed in a week for an English-language TV series on Netflix.'

Back in June 2022, Stranger Things season four broke the record, previously held by period drama Bridgerton season two. The record is for the most-watched English-language TV series, with Squid Game being the overall most popular title.

Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake

Following the love for the first three series, Pete Wicks has now confirmed his hit series For Dogs' Sake will return for a fourth, with filming due to begin in the coming weeks.

Doctor Foster

Nine years after the second series aired on BBC, bosses delighted fans in February 2026, by revealing Doctor Foster will be returning with Suranne Jones. Suranne will reprise her role as Dr Gemma Foster, opposite Bertie Carvel as Simon and Tom Taylor as Tom. Filming is due to begin in Spring 2026.

Ted Lasso

Following the end of series three in 2023, fans were crying out for a fourth series of comedy show Ted Lasso! On Friday 14th March 2025, main actor Jason Sudeikis confirmed the exciting news, and now Apple TV have announced it will land in Summer 2026!

Last One Laughing

Hosted by Jimmy Carr, the first two series of Prime Video show Last One Laughing has been a huge success! Before series two had even concluded in early April 2026, bosses confirmed a third series was in the works, as well as a Halloween special!

Emily In Paris

After season five dropped in December 2025, and was met with huge viewing figures, Netflix were quick to renew Emily In Paris for a sixth season. No start date has been announced, but it could be late in 2026.

Vigil

Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie are reprising their roles as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre in BBC drama Vigil. Filming wrapped in Scotland in January 2026, so we could see show return later in 2026.

The Day of the Jackal

Series one of thriller The Day of the Jackal broke viewing records for Sky Atlantic, so there's no surprise that bosses were quick to renew the show for a second series, before the first was even over! Although there's no air date just yet, filming started in 2025, so we could see the show return sometime in 2026.

Line of Duty

Now that the BBC have confirmed there's going to be a seventh series of award-winning crime drama Line of Duty, fans are counting down the months! Filming is due to begin in Spring 2026, and bosses have now confirmed it will air in 2027.

Amandaland

Following the first series of Motherland spin-off show Amandaland, BBC bosses were quick to renew comedy series Amandaland for a second series. Lucy Punch will return as Amanda, alongside Joanna Lumley and Philippa Dunne. Filming for series two started in October 2025, with bosses also announcing a Christmas special!

Unforgotten

After series six aired in early 2025, ITV/STV bosses were quick to recommission crime drama Unforgotten for a seventh series, with Sanjeev Bhaskar and Sinéad Keenan set to return. There's no official start date just yet, but filming did begin at the start of 2026.

This City Is Ours

Following the first series which aired in 2025, This City Is Ours has been renewed for a second series, with filming now complete! Julie Graham, James Nelson-Joyce and Jack McMullen will all return. There's no start date just yet, but we imagine it will be sometime later in 2026.

The Bear

Following the fourth series arriving in June 2025, bosses have now confirmed The Bear will return for a fifth series! Although there's been no start date given just yet, the show typically begins every year in June.

Gangs of London

Following the third series in 2025, which ended on a major cliffhanger, Sky have now confirmed Gangs of London has been commissioned for a fourth series. Although there's no start date just yet, filming reportedly started in January 2026.

Peaky Blinders

Much to the shock of everybody, Steven Knight revealed in October 2025 that Peaky Blinders will be returning for two more series! The series will be all about a new generation of the Shelby family. The as-yet-untitled show will star Billy Elliot and Fantastic Four actor Jamie Bell in the main role as Duke Shelby.

The Celebrity Traitors

After the record-breaking first series in October-November 2025, BBC bosses have now confirmed The Celebrity Traitors will return for a second series in 2026!

The Night Agent

Following the release of series three in early 2026, Netflix has now confirmed a fourth series of hit drama The Night Agent is now in production! There's no start date just yet, but we imagine it will return in 2027.

All's Fair

After becoming the biggest Hulu Original scripted series premiere in three years, Ryan Murphy's All's Fair has now been renewed for a second series! Starring Kim Kardashian, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Naomi Watts and Niecy Nash, production begins in Spring 2026.

Trigger Point

After three hugely-successful series of ITV drama Trigger Point, the show will return for a fourth series in 2026! Although there's no release date just yet, we do know that filming is now complete!

The Night Manager

Following the return of BBC thriller The Night Manager in early 2026, bosses have now confirmed the show will return for a third series! Although there's no return date just yet, fans are on edge following the huge twist in the series two finale.

Love Is Blind: UK

Following two hit series of Netflix dating show Love Is Blind: UK, bosses have renewed the show for more series, with the third set to air later in 2026! Applications for series four in 2027 are also now open!

The Morning Show

Popular Apply TV series The Morning Show is set to return to our screens for a fifth instalment with Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston and Billy Crudup. Reese confirmed in March 2026 that filming had started!

One Born Every Minute

After seven years off our screens, E4 announced in April 2026 that popular documentary series One Born Every Minute will be making a return! Although there's no start date just yet, bosses have confirmed filming will begin later this year.
