Since hitting the silver screen back in 2006, The Devil Wears Prada has remained one of the most beloved comedy-dramas in the world, with fans still able to recite its iconic lines word for word.

The film, which starred the likes of Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep, never got a sequel, largely due to the cast’s busy schedules, but it’s something fans have been calling for over the past 19 years. Now, it’s finally happening, with the sequel set to hit screens this May - and the FINAL trailer out now!

Ahead of its imminent release, here's everything you need to know about the sequel, with tickets on sale now.

Is there a trailer?

On 6th April 2026, 20th Century Studios dropped the final trailer ahead of the film's premiere next month. The caption read: 'Watch the new trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 with original song “Runway” performed by Lady Gaga and Doechii', along with a reminder for its premiere date.

Strutting to the comments section, fans couldn't hold back their anticipation, with one writing: 'I haven’t been this excited for a new movie in years 🔥🔥', while another noted the vocals behind the trailer: 'GAGA AND DOECHII LET’S GO'. (sic)

A third user chimed: 'THIS might be my favorite clip yet! I got chills and it has a certain energy similar to the first one. ❤️', and a fourth added: 'ICONS WORKING WITH ICONS!'. (sic)

The first, full trailer was released on 1st February 2026, showing Andy Sachs returning to Runway to reunite with Miranda, only for Miranda to claim she doesn't know who she is. Emily Blunt's character Emily and Stanley Tucci's character Nigel also feature.

In just 24 hours, the first official trailer for The Devil Wears Prada racked up an incredible 222+ million views!

When does The Devil Wears Prada 2 come out?

The Devil Wears Prada 2 arrives in cinemas on 1st May 2026, with tickets now on sale.

Who is in the cast?

In October 2025, Variety reported that pop superstar Lady Gaga would be appearing in the sequel. Following the success of her 'Mayhem Ball Tour' in the UK, the singer was spotted in Milan a few days later, where the sequel was filmed.

While she doesn’t appear in the latest trailer, the original track 'Runway' by Lady Gaga - who is also set to appear in the film still features - alongside Doechii.

This would add to the string of acting appearances she's done over recent years, including her appearance as Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux and a cameo appearance in the Netflix hit Wednesday, for which she also provided the song 'Dead Dance'.

Already confirmed for the sequel are Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, who will both reprise their roles as Miranda Priestly and Emily Charlton. Meryl and Emily will appear alongside Anne Hathaway (Andrea Sachs) and Stanley Tucci (Nigel).

New cast members joining the sequel include Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu and Kenneth Branagh.

How was the sequel announced?

After reports were rife back in 2024 that a sequel for The Devil Wears Prada was in the works at Disney, 20th Century Studios then confirmed it is now in production in June 2025!

Sharing a post on social media of the famous red high heel, the caption read: 'The Devil Wears Prada 2. Now in production. 👠👠'. (sic)

The short video also features audio from the original movie, with famous lines from Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), and Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway).

On Monday 21st July, actress Anne Hathaway, who will reprise her role as Andy Sachs in the sequel, shared a TikTok video of herself brushing her teeth, wearing a blue sweater in the shade of Cerulean.

She wrote: 'Heading to werk #dwp2'.

Later in the day, 42-year-old Anne later shared a first look photo of herself in character, writing: 'Andy Sachs 2025 #dwp2'. (sic)

Anne was also papped filming the new movie in Manhattan, New York on 21st July, wearing a bucket hat and colourful dress as she walked across a busy road with a suitcase and a dress bag with the words 'Runway'.

What is the sequel about?

The plot seems to suggest the sequel will follow Meryl's character Miranda Priestley, as she attempts to navigate her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. Variety is also reporting that Emily Blunt's character Emily Charlton is now a top executive for a luxury group, with Miranda set to compete with her for the company's advertising dollars.

Aline Brosh McKenna will return as Writer, whilst David Frankel will be the Executive Producer on the second movie.

The official plot reads: 'Almost 20 years after making their iconic turn as Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel—Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway Magazine in the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined a generation'.

Dune: Part Two is the 2024 sequel to Denis Villeneuve's epic, picking up right after Paul survives the Harkonnen betrayal on Arrakis.

Dune: Part 3

Dune: Part Three arrives 18th December 2026, adapting Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah for the third instalment. Paul (Timothée) rules as emperor while his jihad spreads across the galaxy. Scream 7 (2026)

Scream 7 is set to slash into cinemas on 27th February 2026, bringing Ghostface back three years after Scream 6 (2023). The new film sees original final girl Sidney Prescott return, with Neve Campbell once again leading the story as Sidney is forced to protect her daughter when a fresh Ghostface surfaces in the quiet town where she's built a new life. Courteney Cox is also back as tenacious reporter Gale Weathers, alongside new cast members including Isabel May, with the sequel positioned as a legacy-focused continuation of the slasher saga.

Mad Max (1979)

More than four decades ago, Mad Max was released starring Mel Gibson as Max Rockatansky, a police officer who becomes a vigilante, set in a dystopian world. The film won several Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA Awards) for Best Editing, Best Original Music Score, Best Sound and Special Award for Stunt Work.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

The film sees Kate Carter (Daisy) as a meteorologist and former storm chaser. Five years after her friends, including her boyfriend, were killed by a tornado, she reunites with another friend who works as a storm chaser in Oklahoma.

Jurassic Park (1993)

Released in 1993, Jurassic Park was groundbreaking at its time for the CGI used to create the dinosaurs, something we don't think twice about these days. The film featured Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough.

Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)

There have been a number of sequels to the original Jurassic Park film, but the most recent is the 2025 Jurassic World Rebirth film, starring Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein.

This is the final movie from the Mission Impossible franchise and sees Tom Cruise, along with Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Vanessa Kirby reprise their roles in the blockbuster film.

The Karate Kid (1984)

The Karate Kid follows teenager Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), who moves to California and is bullied by students from the Cobra Kai dojo. With help from Mr Miyagi (Pat Morita), a humble but wise karate master, Daniel learns self-defence and discipline and triumphs in a karate tournament, earning respect.

Karate Kid Legends (2025)

Following several sequels in 1986, 1989 and 1994, the first film was then remade in 2010 starring Jackie Chan. 15 years later in 2025, Karate Kid Legends was released starring Jackie Chan, along with Ralph Macchio reprising his role as Daniel LaRusso and introducing Ben Wang.

Happy Gilmore (1996)

Way back in 1996, Adam Sandler starred as the title role in the iconic film Happy Gilmore. The film saw Adam's character, a failed ice hockey player, realise he is actually a pretty good shot in golf. Competing in paid tournaments, he raises money to save his grandmother's house from closure.

Happy Gilmore 2 (2025)

Nearly 30 years after the original film, the second Happy Gilmore movie was released on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler in his iconic role of Happy Gilmore. The film featured several cameos including the likes of Eminem, Post Malone, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley and Travis Kelce.

Freaky Friday (2003)

Itself a remake, back in 2003 Freaky Friday starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan was released. The film followed the story of the previous 1976 and 1995 films, and saw mum and daughter swap bodies following the magic of Chinese fortune cookies.

Freakier Friday (2025)

More than 20 years after the 2003 film starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, the pair reunited to reprise their roles as Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan as Tess' daughter) in Freakier Friday.

28 Days Later (2002)

In 2002, Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later, starring Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris and Christopher Eccleston, was hugely popular. The film followed a bicycle courier (Cillian) who awakes up from a coma to find that a virus has escaped and broken down society.

28 Years Later (2025)

Following the original film back in 2002, the first sequel 28 Weeks Later, was made just five years later in 2007. Starring Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne and Jeremy Renner, the film was set just over six months after the events of the first film and followed the United States-led NATO forces as they establish a safe zone in London.


A massive 23 years after the original film was released, another sequel was released called 28 Years Later. The film, starring Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jack O'Connell, follows a new story in the world of the original film. A group of survivors from the original virus live on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway.
Following 28 Years Later, another sequel called 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is set for release in January 2026, after it was shot back-to-back with the 2025 sequel.

Fantastic Four (2005)

The Fantastic Four film was released back in 2005 and followed the origin story of the team made up of Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (Ioan Gruffudd), Sue Storm / Invisible Woman (Jessica Alba), Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Chris Evans) and Ben Grimm / The Thing (Michael Chiklis).

The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)

Over the years there have been several sequels and reboots to the original 2005 film. In 2025, The Fantastic Four: First Steps was released starring Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Sue Storm / Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben Grimm / The Thing) and Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm / Human Torch).


The film served as the 37th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was also the second reboot of the Fantastic Four film series.

Frankenstein (1931)

Director Gurinder Chadha confirmed in July 2025 that a sequel to her 2002 hit Bend It Like Beckham is officially happening. Set for release in 2027 to coincide with the film's 25th anniversary, it brings back Jess (Parminder Nagra) and Jules (Keira Knightley) and taps into the explosion of women's football - fuelled by the Lionesses' rise and the influence of U.S. coach Emma Hayes.

The Mummy (1999)

The Mummy (1999), directed by Stephen Sommers, stars Brendan Fraser as adventurer Rick O'Connell and Rachel Weisz as Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan. In 1926, they resurrect priest Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) in Hamunaptra. Imhotep unleashes plagues seeking his love, targeting Evelyn. With Jonathan (John Hannah) and Medjai Ardeth Bay (Oded Fehr), Rick battles mummies and traps. Using the Book of Amun-Ra, they defeat Imhotep as the city collapses.

The Mummy 4 (predicted 2028)

In Universal Pictures' revival of the 1999 hit franchise, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz return as Rick and Evelyn O'Connell in The Mummy 4. This legacy sequel ignores Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), picking up after The Mummy Returns (2001). The next instalment is directed by Radio Silence's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and is slated for May 2028.

Sense and Sensibility (1995)

Adapted from the classic novel by Jane Austen, 1995's Sense and Sensibility follows the Dashwood sisters after their father's death leaves them with little money and fewer options. Elinor, played by Emma Thompson, hides her feelings for Edward Ferrars, played by Hugh Grant. Marianne, played by Kate Winslet, is devastated by Willoughby, played by Greg Wise, while Colonel Brandon, played by Alan Rickman, offers steady devotion. Directed by Ang Lee, the film earned seven Oscar nominations.

Sense and Sensibility (2026)

Georgia Oakley's Sense and Sensibility upcoming take on Jane Austen's tale stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as reserved Elinor Dashwood and Esmé Creed-Miles as passionate Marianne. George MacKay plays earnest Edward Ferrars, Frank Dillane dashing John Willoughby, and Herbert Nordrum steadfast Colonel Brandon. This Focus Features adaptation explores duty versus desire, premiering in September 2026.

Toy Story (1995); Toy Story 2 (1999); Toy Story 3 (2010); Toy Story 4 (2019)

Pixar's Toy Story (1995) launched CGI animation with Woody resenting Buzz Lightyear until they team up to return to Andy. Toy Story 2 (1999) has Woody kidnapped by a collector, rescued by Buzz and new pals Jessie, Bullseye, and Stinky Pete, confronting his past. Toy Story 3 (2010) sees Andy's toys donated to Sunnyside Daycare, escaping Lotso's tyranny, surviving incineration, and gifted to Bonnie. Toy Story 4 (2019) follows Woody and Bonnie's hand-made companion Forky on a road trip, reuniting with independent Bo Peep - where Woody ultimately chooses freedom over family, embracing lost-toy life.

Toy Story 5 (2006)

Seven years after Woody bid farewell to the gang to be with Bo Peep, the toys reunite and this time it's 'Toy meets Tech'. Pixar's official synopsis reads: 'Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the gang's jobs are challenged when they're introduced to what kids are obsessed with today....electronics!'. The upcoming sequel is directed by Andrew Stanton, co-directed by Kenna Harris and produced by Lindsey Collins, and is in cinemas on 19th June 2026.
