All you need to know about Elton John and Brandi Carlile's new album
'Who Believes In Angels?' is out in April
Along with releasing a new song called 'Who Believes In Angels?' on 5th February, Elton John and Brandi Carlile announced they would be releasing a full album together later this year. The album will feature 10 songs, written and recorded by Elton and Brandi, along with Bernie Taupin and producer Andrew Watt.
Announcing the album on social media, Elton told his fans that it was the 'toughest' he's ever made, something he elaborated on in interviews with Magic Radio and Greatest Hits Radio.
When was the album written?
Elton and Brandi wrote the album in the October following Elton's final tour, in 2023. It was written in just 20 days and the process was documented throughout. A short insight into the songwriting process was shared by Elton shortly after the album announcement.
What has Elton said about the album 'Who Believes In Angels?'
The pair joined Simon Mayo on Greatest Hits Radio where Elton revealed that he thought making the album was a risk. The singer explained: "It was a risk, but it was a risk I wanted to take long before we made the album."
He continued: "There were four of us with all different ideas, throwing them around and it was difficult for me to come to grips with it at first, because I was a little tired. I was very nervous, I was filled with a lot of self doubt, because I wanted the album to be really successful, and I knew what I wanted it to sound like."
The singer also admitted in an interview with Magic Radio that he was very nervous going into the studio because he had a clear vision of how he would like this album to be.
He told Nicki Chapman: "If I was going to do a record with Brandi, it had to be a proper duet record and not one line here and one line there. It had to be harmonised, it had to be sounding fresh, even though, as I said before, the songs are classical kind of songs in the way they're formed, but I knew what I wanted, but sometimes you can't get that in the studio."
When is the album 'Who Believes In Angels?' released?
The album will be released on 4th April 2025.
