Tom Walker releases his emotional new song 'Lifeline' along with the music video
It's in partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM)
'Leave The Light On' singer Tom Walker has now released his latest song, an emotional track called 'Lifeline'. The song has been released in partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and was inspired by a friend of Tom's who sadly took his own life.
According to data one in five people will have suicidal thoughts in their lifetime, with someone dying by suicide every 90 minutes on average in the UK.
Tom says of the track: "Me and my friends lost one of our own suddenly and unexpectedly. It’s difficult to process grief. I felt we were all asking ourselves ‘what could I have done? What could I have said? What could have been done differently?’.
"Sometimes people make choices that are beyond your control and it’s hard to help someone who isn’t reaching out. My hope is that maybe by writing a song like this that addresses the stigma behind mental health, it might persuade people to think twice and ask for a helping hand when they’re really struggling."
He continued: "CALM is an amazing charity who help people when things get too much. I'm keen to spread the word about their amazing work in any way that I can."
As well as releasing the song, Tom shared the emotional music video, which resulted in many fans expressing their thoughts. One wrote: '2 seconds in and I can already tell it's gonna be a tear jerker ðŸ˜' (sic), with another saying: 'Hits the heart, Everyone has been here either themself or with someone they care about . If only Songs like this could reach them before they act. Great song , Great voice. A message all should hear.'
If you or someone close to you needs help you can call CALM’s helpline, 5pm–midnight, 365 days a year. More information about CALM and its life-saving work can be found via the CALM website.
