In September 2025, James reflected on his time on the talent show, telling his fans: 'Although this guy was crippled with Demons and anxiety, there was a fearlessness in these performances. The vocals are far from perfect but we now know that perfect is way overrated, in fact I think we’re all sick of things sounding and looking inauthentic. I never thought about what I was doing here, It truly was just raw expression and seemingly it was moving the audience and people at home.' (sic)
