When is it out?
It's now been confirmed Wuthering Heights will land in cinemas on 14th February 2026, a real treat for Valentine's Day.
What is the plot?
The official plot for the movie states: 'A passionate and tumultuous love story set against the backdrop of the Yorkshire moors, exploring the intense and destructive relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw'.
Who is in the cast?
Ever since Barbie star Margot Robbie and Saltburn actor Jacob Elordi were cast as lead actors Catherine and Heathcliff, there's been some controversary and backlash, due to the pair being Australian.
There's also been some backlash about the ages of the actors (35 and 28) as their characters are teenagers for much of the book’s plot.
However, during an interview with Deadline earlier this year, Jacob did sound positive about the film, saying: “The performances from everyone – it’s breathtaking. It’s an incredible romance. It’s a true epic. It’s visually beautiful. The script is beautiful. The costumes are incredible.”
Adolescence actor Owen Cooper has also landed a role in the movie as Young Heathcliff, whilst Hong Chau plays the role of Nelly Dean, and Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton.
See the full cast list below:
Margot Robbie as Catherine Earnshaw
Charlotte Mellington as Young Catherine
Jacob Elordi as Heathcliff
Owen Cooper as Young Heathcliff
Hong Chau as Nelly Dean
Vy Nguyen as Young Nelly Dean
Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton
Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton
Martin Clunes in a supporting role
Ewan Mitchell in a supporting role
Who is the producer?
English actress, filmmaker, and writer Emerald Fennell has written, directed, and produced the upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation.
She worked on hit movies Promising Young Woman and Saltburn over the last few years, as well as appearing as an actress in the likes of Barbie, Vita & Virginia and Pan.
Speaking to MovieMaker in November last year, Emerald said: “This film is, in many ways, about sex. But I think the thing that’s wonderful is that in almost all of the sex scenes whether they’re solitary or not, we never really see below the collarbone. But they’re so filthy… If we used a copious amount of nudity… it would have been kind of uninteresting and relentless… It’s not real… when it’s just someone on their own, and it’s just their face, it feels very, very real."
Where was it filmed?
The Yorkshire Dales National Park was the main location for filming of Wuthering Heights, in stunning valleys such as Arkengarthdale, Low Row and Arkengarthdale. A number of studio based scenes were shot at Sky Studios in Elstree.
Production for Wuthering Heights started in late January 2025, running until early April 2025.
