It's safe to say that Molly-Mae Hague has proven herself to be an absolute BOSS since she appeared on the 2019 series of Love Island. The influencer, who is now the show's highest ever earning contestant, has discussed her incredible career post-villa, revealing the real reason the appeared on the ITV2 series... Spoiler, it wasn't for love!

As fans of the show will know, a lucrative brand deal and influencer lifestyle are pretty typical for an ex-contestant, however Molly-Mae has certainly proved that the grind never stops, releasing multiple brand collaborations, launching her own business and even becoming the Creative Director of fashion retailer Pretty Little Thing.

Speaking on The Diary Of A CEO podcast, Molly revealed that the real reason she went on the show was to "enhance her career".

She then said: "It gave me a platform, yeah it elevated me but the things I’ve done now are not because of Love Island, they’re because of me and what I decided to do and my work ethic."

Molly-Mae then explained: "It is tricky for me to say the right thing without upsetting people but, put it this way, I didn’t go on that show to find love."

She then admitted that she doesn't believe most contestants on the show are solely looking for love, admitting: "No one does! People go on it for the experience, people go on it for a laugh.

"And I think, because I went on there with a completely probably incorrect mindset, that’s why I did come out with a boyfriend. You know when you’re not expecting something it happens?"

As fans of the show will know, Molly-Mae finished her series in second place with her boyfriend Tommy Fury, who she is still with two years later - despite rumours that the pair had recently parted ways.
