Myles Smith releases his emotional single 'My Mess'

Earlier this month, Myles Smith opened up about the anxiety he felt after announcing his album 'My Mess, My Heart, My Life.', which features his song 'My Mess'. The single has now been released and many fans are already commenting on how it's brought them to tears.
Just hours before the release of the song, Myles took to social media to share a video of himself singing the song, surrounded by a group of people. The singer captioned the video: 'MY MESS OUT EVERYWHERE MIDNIGHT!! (no matter your time zone) #mymess #mylessmith #newmusic #originalsong #singersongwriter'.
Following the release of the song fans have been taking to social media to reveal how emotional it's mad them feel. Myles shared one fan's comments as an Instagram Story, writing: 'I cannot im pure sobbing.relate to this fully'. (sic)
Another wrote: 'Relate to the chorus a bit too much 😭. Well, off to listen to this on repeat 30 more times 🤣. Stellar song!'
What is the inspiration behind the song?
In the weeks running up to the release of the song, Myles teased fans with clips of the song, opening up about the inspiration behind it. In a video shared on 11th March, Myles wrote: 'I grew up in a house where my opinion didn't matter, please don't ask me to make a decision...' before going into the lyrics: 'I was raised just to do as I'm told'.
In a later post, the singer wrote: 'I might have left that house, but the memories haunt me every day...' followed by the lyrics: 'Sorry I am so goddam indecisive, I was raised just to do as I'm told'.
In the week of release, Myles shared another video, where he can be seen singing to camera writing: 'Anyone else a chronic people pleaser? me too...'
He then revealed some more lyrics, as he sang: 'Sorry I'm so goddam indecisive, I was raised just to do as I'm told. And I hate the way that I'm still like this, I'm still learning to walk on my own.'
Following his post fans took to the comments to say: 'thank you for being so open with us, you've no idea how many people you help by doing it...proud of you🫶🏼✨️'. (sic)
Another wrote: 'This song is gonna make me a mess 😂', and a further fan commenting: 'I’m so proud of you Myles, never stop being the most amazing person, you are my inspiration and got me though so much with your music and continue to do so ❤️❤️❤️'.
On the day the song was released, fans finally had a chance to hear it in full, with the beginning of the song starting with the lyrics: 'Sisters cry, slamming doors, plates flying, I was born into a fractured family, where a word could start a war.
'Lost my tongue when I spoke my piece, yeah / He grabbed my shirt and bruised my cheeks / Had a man had to go toe-to-toe with a boy 13.'
