With shows like Peaky Binders, Kin, Gangs of London and This City Is Ours, gangster dramas are well and truly on the rise right now. MobLand is the latest to have fans hooked, with all episodes now available to stream.

Featuring a stellar cast which includes Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, MobLand started at the end of March 2025, with new episodes dropping weekly, in turn leaving fans on the edge of their seats awaiting the conclusion of the story. After all episodes aired, bosses were quick to reveal the show will be returning for a second instalment, and now production has started!

Here's everything you need to know about MobLand...

Will there be a second series?

MobLand has been renewed for a second series, thanks to the roaring success of the first earlier this year.

The news was announced on Tuesday 24th June, in a post which read: 'They may have won the battle, but will they win the war? #MobLand will return for Season 2 on @paramountplus'. (sic)

When is it out?

At this early stage, there's no news on a plot or release date for series two.

However, bosses confirmed on Thursday 13th November that production for the second series had started. The post read: 'Momentary blissness. Season 2 of #MobLand is now in production'.

What is MobLand about?

Directed by Guy Ritchie, the man behind Snatch and The Gentlemen, MobLand is set in contemporary London and is a classic gangster drama which tells the story of two crime families, the Harrigans and the Stevensons.

The official plot for MobLand states: 'Power is up for grabs as two warring crime families clash in a battle that threatens to topple empires and ruin lives. In the crossfire stands Harry Da Souza, a street-smart ‘fixer’ who knows too well where loyalties lie when opposing forces collide'.

Is Pierce Brosnan Irish?

Pierce Brosnan OBE, famed for roles in blockbusters such as James Bond, Mamma Mia!, and The Foreigner, is Irish, despite many fans of MobLand mocking him for his 'Irish accent' in the series.

Pierce was born in Drogheda in 1953 and lived in Navan for 12 years, before moving to London where he attended secondary school, and later studied at the Drama Centre London for three years.

Despite his Irish roots, fans believe Pierce has lost his accent and appears to speak with a more 'British twang'.

Speaking about the backlash he's received on MobLand, Pierce told Radio Times: "My own accent is very soft. Conrad's accent is a million miles away from me."

Adding he worked with a dialect coach, he added: "I told him that I needed a Kerry accent, so he gave me the name of a man and I googled the guy and that was it. It was a Kerry accent and so I just gave it full tilt."

Going on to explain the anxiety he had about the role, he added: "Every job is a challenge and it all comes with a thump of anxiety, because you have to do something.

"What are you doing on the stage? Why are you there? So that's constant. You live with that. You live with that stress all the time, and that's what's so exhilarating.

"That's what makes you alive."
