After much excitement, Perrie Edwards finally released her debut solo album since Little Mix started their hiatus several years ago. The album, which is self-titled features a massive 16 songs, along with a fan edition featuring even more tracks!
After she released her debut solo song 'Forget About Us', followed by 'Tears' and 'You Go Your Way' last year, Perrie returned in 2025 with 'Rollercoaster' and 'If He Wanted To He Would'. Now she's finally released her album and has taken fans behind-the-scenes as she promoted it. Find out more below...
What is Perrie's debut album called?
The singer's debut album is self-titled 'Perrie'. On the release day of her single 'If He Wanted To He Would', she shared the album artwork, showing a close-up of her head and shoulders, as she's lying on a rock, looking at the camera.
Back in June 2024, when talking about possible album names, Perrie told us in an interview: "I kind of have something that I like, that a fan came up with, and I'm like, OK! They all know I'm useless at this kind of thing.
"So they've been like doing lists and options, and like Powerpoint presentations of what I could call it. Which is really sweet of them, and they've really helped me out, because I really like one of the names."
When was it released?
On 22nd August 2025, the singer revealed 'Perrie' would drop on 26th September. Along with announcing the name of the album, she wrote: 'I can’t believe this day has arrived! It feels like a dream. My debut album ‘Perrie’ will be all yours on the 26th September!'.
Behind-the-scenes of release week
A few weeks after the release of the album, Perrie shared a behind-the-scenes video which showed her during the album release week. The singer met fans at signings in several music shops across the country, as well as doing a performance in Liverpool. She ended her week at a bar in South Shields where she was joined by her friends and family to perform the song 'Sand Dancer.
Perrie originally said her album was ready for release last year; around Christmas 2024, she decided to pause her solo music, while she decided on the direction of her music. She then went back to the studio to find a sound she was happy with.
Reflecting on her short break, Perrie said: "At the end of last year (2024) I was feeling so much pressure to release music and move quickly. I wasn't happy and didn't feel like the music I was releasing was right.
"During one of my therapy sessions, my therapist said if you're not happy just take away that pressure and stop for a bit. She was right and I decided to press pause on my music.
"I went back in the studio and spent time writing songs that were totally authentic to me and about subjects that were close to my heart, without the pressure of having to hit a release date.
"I absolutely love the album I have created and I'm really proud of it. This is the music I want to make and I'm super excited to release it to the world this September. I hope you love it as much as I do."
Fan Edition
Just a few days after releasing her debut album, Perrie announced there would be a fan edition. Responding to fans' requests, the new edition will feature extra songs, not included on her standard version.
She wrote on Instagram: 'You asked and I delivered. Your very own fan edition of Perrie is available to download on my store NOW. Woman in Love will finally be yours along with other unreleased tracks. I’ve also included a brand new demo called Passenger Princess hot from the studio! 🔥🔥'.
Following the announcement of the fan edition of her album, Perrie shared a super cute video of Axel 'playing' a guitar, as RAYE holds it for him. Another video included in the post shows an ultrasound with Axel's heartbeat, which Perrie previously told us was featured on a song.
She told her fans: 'Perrie ‘The Fan Edition’ is available to download now! These are all such special songs to me! 2-2 written with the insanely talented @raye Heartbeat featuring my parents & Axels sonogram heartbeat 🥹😭 Woman in love and many more! She also revealed that she is most looking forward to her fans hearing the ballads on her album, including 'Miss You'.
What has Perrie said about her solo music?
Perrie has teased her new music quite a bit, her debut solo song was released on 12th April 2024.
Taking to Instagram in January 2024, Perrie shared a series of photos and told her fans: 'Singing my little heart out… music pending… 🎶'.
The photos showed Perrie working on new music in her home studio, with the first photo showing Perrie belting out a tune into a microphone.
After sharing these pics, fans were left very excited with one writing: 'What the world needs is solo music from Perrie Edwards!', with another commenting: 'a picture says a thousand words and that first picture is a belt if i’ve ever seen one can’t WAIT'. (sic)
Since Little Mix started their hiatus after their 'Confetti' tour in 2022, Perrie teased solo music, including one post where she told her fans she was 'cooking'.
Then in November 2023, Perrie updated her fans further, revealing details of her album. Despite not revealing its name, or when it was due, Perrie shared a video telling her fans: "Get ready as I update you on the album...
"It's finished!" Perrie exclaimed, before adding: "No, I'm joking."
The singer went on to reveal: "I think I'm in a very good place for it right now. It's been an amazing process, I've met so many incredible writers, incredible producers. People I've worked with before, new people... it's just been really fun I've love it. (It's) been a very different process I would say to being in the band."
Perrie, who was part of Little Mix for more than 10 years, admitted that going solo has brought her out of her shell. "I think it kind of has brought me out of my shell a lot," she explained. "Because I used to kind of use them as my comfort blanket in the studio. It's quite intimidating writing with amazing writers and producers in the room, if you have an idea, you're like 'what about this?!' and you feel a bit silly."
She continued: "So I have had to come out of my shell a lot, and I think going into the process, I sat down with my label and I was like look, I don't know if I want to write that much, I don't know I'm a very good writer. I've also been with the girls, so I don't know if I'm that great at it. I don't know!"
Does her son Axel feature on her songs?
Yes, he does! Before the album was released, Perrie told us that Axel sings on one of her songs, but she didn't say which one. In an interview, she told us that his heartbeat is also used on a song, she said: "There's a song on my album that the beat of the song is my little boy’s like heartbeat, like when we went to the scan."
She continued: "It was so cool, I remember being in that moment and hearing like the (sound) and I thought, no, that's unreal, that could be a song. And then fast forward to like a year and a bit in, and I was like, yeah, I'm going to do it."
In a separate interview with us, she also explained: "He sings and he talks, he’s so cute, I can't wait for everyone to hear it."
Does Perrie write her own songs?
Perrie has collaborated with others on her new songs including Ed Sheeran and RAYE, however, she has also opened up about writing saying: "As the process went on and I started kind of pushing myself a little bit more and more, I realised that I actually love to write music, which was a surprise to me."
She now has her own home studio, which her partner Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain built for her, and she says it's great having the chance to: "Gain the confidence to write my own music."
Speaking about working with RAYE, she admitted they wrote a "petty song", saying: "I wrote a song with RAYE and and it was like a proper petty song. When you're in a relationship... Like me and my partner, we don't argue, but when we do, I am SO petty, I will not let it go."
She continued: "It could be the simplest thing, I'm like 'No’, like my star sign is Cancer and I'm so stubborn. The thing is, I know I'm doing it, I know I'm being stubborn, but I can't not do it. So I'm like, no, I will hold a grudge. So we wrote a song about that."
