Just hours before the final episode of Squid Game: The Challenge aired on Netflix in the UK in 2023, producers thrilled fans by announcing that the hit reality series had been renewed for a second season.
Now all three series of the original show have landed, with talk of a potential American spin-off, excitement is ramping up ahead of series two of Squid Game: The Challenge, with a trailer and release date now announced.
Will there be a second series?
YES! The news was confirmed on social media on Wednesday 6th December 2023, with Netflix writing: 'Squid Game: The Challenge is returning for a Season 2!', alongside a promotional video featuring footage and reviews from the first series.
Is there a trailer?
Yes, there is a trailer. The teaser trailer was released on 10th July, and shows a new wave of contestants arriving to take on the Squid Game challenges. The description for the teaser trailer reads: '456 real players will enter the competition show in pursuit of a life-changing reward of USD $4.56 million. As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show - plus surprising new additions- their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.
'Squid Game: The Challenge returns November 4, only on Netflix.'
When does series 2 come out?
The release date for the second series has now been confirmed as 4th November 2025.
Where is it filmed?
Filming started in January 2025 in London, UK. No exact filming locations for series two have been unveiled just yet.
What is the prize money?
Once again, bosses will give the winner a life-changing reward of $4.56 million USD.
Who are the contestants?
At the moment, no contestants have been announced for series two, but we do know there will be 456 participants.
What games will be on series two?
Although no games have been confirmed just yet for series two, Netflix say: 'As they compete through a series of games inspired by the original show - plus surprising new additions - their strategies, alliances, and character will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them.'
Games such as Red Light, Green Light, Dalgona and Glass Bridge all featured in series one.
What channel is it on?
Just like the first series, the second instalment will air on streaming platform Netflix.
Can I apply?
Applications for series two of Squid Game: The Challenge opened in December 2023, with bosses urging participants from around the world to apply.
The application website stated: 'Now it’s your chance to take part in Netflix’s biggest ever social experiment! This supersized unscripted show turns the scripted world of the drama into reality. Real-life players will be immersed in the iconic Squid Game universe and will never know what’s coming next. Here they’ll compete in a series of heart-stopping games in order to become the sole survivor* and walk away with a life-changing $4.56 million dollar cash prize.
'With a fortune up for grabs, who will be an ally, who will you trust, and who will you betray in this ultimate test of character?

What happened in series one?
Series one of Squid Game: The Challenge first hit the streaming platform on 22nd November, with the final episode airing on Thursday 7th December.
The 10-episode series followed the same format as the original drama Squid Game, where 456 players took part in various games such as Red Light, Green Light, Dalgona, and Glass Bridge, without the brutal violence of course.
Without giving away any spoilers, three players made it to the final episode, where just one player won a huge prize of $4.56 million.

Netflix haven't officially confirmed a third series just yet, but the application website is allowing players to express interest in 'potential future seasons'.
