James Arthur is set to release his highly anticipated sixth studio album, 'Pisces' later this year. This album marks a significant departure from his previous works, showcasing a more experimental and introspective side of him. He has been teasing his new release since early December, however, just weeks before the album's release, James has announced a delay.

The singer explained in a video shared on social media that he would be delaying the album by just over a month because it's going to be a 'full visual album', and isn't quite finished.

Why is 'Pisces' being delayed?

James captioned his video: 'Pisces is coming a little later than planned, the 25th April, but I promise it’s for a good reason. There’s a film. A full visual album. And it’s just not quite ready yet. I really want you to experience it the way I’ve imagined, so we need a little more time to get it right.

'Thank you for the love, the support, and the patience. It genuinely means so much. Can’t wait for you to see and hear what we’ve been making ♓🩵'.

In the video he told his fans: "Hello everyone, it's me! I've got some not-so-good news to share with you and some slightly better news, I think. I'll start with the fact that the 'Pisces' album will be moved back to the 25th of April, so for those of you who were expecting it on the 21st of March, I'm so sorry, it's not coming out then, because, better news..."

He continued: "The 'Pisces' album will be accompanied by a film, it'll be a visual album and we've been working away on this in the background for a while, and I feel strongly that this album should be consumed with the visuals, and since we're not quite where we'd like to be with it, we're not quite ready to share it in a couple of weeks, there's a new date and that's the 25th (April).

"Some of you probably realised there's been a bit of a thread going on with the music videos and a bit of a narrative that goes along with this record and because it's so personal to me and it means so much to me, I want it to be just right, and I want it to be experienced in the way that I have envisaged. So I'm sorry! But it's not coming out on the 21st, and thank you for your understanding, if you understand. If you hate me, sorry, anyway, hope you're happy/hope you're not too disgruntled about this. New date 25th (April) for the 'Pisces' album, thank you as always for your continued support and I'll make it up to you! Much love."

What is James Arthur's new album called?

What has James said about the album?

As a comment attached to his Instagram post, James wrote: 'I’ve honestly never been more proud of a project. This is the album I want everyone to hear in full.'

In an interview with Hits Radio, James revealed more about the sound of his new album. He said: "When you look into the characteristics of a Pisces, typically they're very creative, sensitive, dreamy... Dreamers, like essentially, so I thought well, that could be the kind of yard stick for all of the songs. As long as they feel like me, what it feels like to be me, then they'll make the cut."

He also said in a press release: "I wanted this album to have a different feel from anything I've done before. People expect big, emotional ballads with raspy vocals, but I like to think I've got a few strings to my bow. It was as simple as wanting to approach the songs and my vocal delivery in a more gentle way and create dreamy sounds."

Is it a visual album?

Yes it is! In March 2025, James confirmed the album would be delayed because it's a visual album, and it isn't quite where he would like it to be.
