Back in September 2025, Madonna announced a surprise dance album, set for release in 2026. It comes two decades after she released 'Confessions on a Dance Floor', which filled the top spot in charts across the world.

What is the artwork for 'Confessions II'?

In April 2026, Madonna revealed the release date and artwork for the long-awaited album, sharing the news on Instagram, the singer wrote: 'Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part II — July 3 2026'.

What has Madonna said about the album?

On the day she announced the release date for the album, Madonna said in a press release: 'People think that dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong. The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: A ritualistic space where movement replaces language.'

She added: 'When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto:

'We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we've been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It's about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people.

'Sound, light, and vibration

'Reshape our perceptions

'Pulling us into a trance-like state.

'The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it.

'Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.'

How did she announce the album?

Madonna took to social media on Thursday 18th September 2025 to share the news of the album. She told fans in a now deleted post: 'Almost 2 decades later - And it Feels like home with Warner Records!

'Back to music, Back to the Dance Floor Back to where it all began!

'COADF- P. 2 🪩 2026.'

Fans were quick to share their excitement, writing on the post: 'THE QUEEN IS COMING BACK🔥' and 'Its coming baby🔥❤️😍' (sic).

After her initial album announcement back in September, she then took to Instagram and X to share some photos writing: 'The Disco Era continues! Been listening to Confessions on a Dance Floor on repeat !! It’s so gooooooood!

'I looked through my closet and found some dancing shoes by Gina and a disco Jacket made by Gucci from that Era. It’s time to go Dancing! Can’t wait to share Confessions Part 2 with everyone next year!!! 🪩💃 🤍.' (sic)

Then in November 2025, the singer shared more photos exciting fans. The now-deleted post showed Madonna in the studio with Stuart Price, the producer who worked on her original 2005 album 'Confessions On A Dance Floor'.

What is it called?

On 15th April 2026, Madonna confirmed the name of the new album is 'Confessions II'. She has also referred to it as 'Confessions On A Dance Floor Part 2' in her social posts, and on her website 'COADF2'.

Madonna has now confirmed it will be released on 3rd July 2026.

Is there a film to accompany the album?

Yes there is, it had its world premiere in New York in June. The film, also called Confessions II, stars Sabrina Carpenter, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard E Grant, Kate Moss, Julia Garner as well as Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon, and many more.
