Woman traumatised after robbery in Ayr

A man grabbed her bag and left her needing hospital treatment.

An investigation has been launched after a woman was robbed in Ayr.

The 43 year-old was walking in George Street around 9.20pm on Wednesday 27th September 2017 when a man approached her from behind and violently grabbed her bag.

She fell to the ground and ended up needing hospital treatment for a foot injury.

Detective Sergeant Jane Hogg at Ayr CID said: “This was a very traumatic experience for this woman who had to be treated in hospital for a foot injury after she was knocked to the ground.

“It is vital that we catch the person responsible before he strikes again and as such I appeal to anyone who either witnessed the incident or who was in the vicinity of George Street, Ayr around 2130 hrs on Wednesday 27 September and may have seen him hanging around the area either prior to the robbery taken place or running off afterwards to contact police immediately."

The man who ran off with the handbag is described as white, late 20’s to early 30’s, 5ft 6, slim build with a fit physique and brown hair. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a dark coloured tracksuit/shell suit jacket.
