Woman dies in single car crash in Ayrshire

The 39-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene near Dundonald.

A 39 year-old woman has died following a crash on the A759 in Ayrshire on Thursday.

She was driving her Ford Fiesta between Troon and Dundonald, near to its junction with Auchans, at around 05:20am when it appears she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

Emergency services attended, but the 39 year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Kevin Blackley of the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine said: “At this time our enquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash, and I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash take place, or who was driving on this road immediately before the time of the crash to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0409 of 4th January."
