Woman 'badly shaken' after weapon threat in Kilmarnock robbery

Police are appealing or witnesses after a Scot-mid store was robbed in Kilmarnock on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 9:30pm at the store in McPhail Drive Kilmarnock on Tuesday 21 June.

East Ayrshire Officers are appealing for information after a woman was threatened with a weapon during a robbery of the Scotmid store in Kilmarnock this week.

The incident occurred around 9:30pm at the store in McPhail Drive, Kilmarnock on Tuesday 21 June.

A man entered the store and threatened a female member of staff with a weapon while demanding money and escaped with a four-figure sum of cash from the shop.

The 42-year-old woman was unharmed but left extremely shaken by the incident.

Suspect description

The suspect was last seen escaping by foot in the direction of MacAndrew Gardens.

Police describe the robber as around 5ft 10inches in height and of slim build.

He was wearing a dark-coloured trapper-style hat, sunglasses, a navy blue jacket, grey ripped jeans and white trainers. He was also wearing gloves that were dark-coloured on the palms and lighter coloured on the outside.

Police Appeal

Detective Sergeant Sarah Holland of Kilmarnock Police Station said: “Enquiries are ongoing and officers have been speaking to people in the area, gathering and studying CCTV images from in and around McPhail Drive to establish more information on the man responsible for this robbery.

“I would urge anyone in the local community who saw anyone acting suspiciously on Tuesday evening, or who recognises his description to contact officers as soon as possible.

“Additional patrols are in place to provide public reassurance and anyone with any concerns or information can speak to officers.”
