A search is continuing for missing Ardrossan man Anthony Lowey.

The 51 year-old, known as Tony, was last seen on Boxing Day 2017.

Today (Monday 5 February 2018) Tony’s younger sister, 46 year-old Joanne Lowey appealed for information on her brother’s whereabouts.

Anthony was last seen by a family member when he was dropped off at his home in Hunter Avenue, Ardrossan. Nobody has seen or heard from him since.

A further sighting of Tony was captured on CCTV on Wednesday 27 December 2017 in a local shop, Alpine Stores, where he was in buying some groceries.

There has been no contact from Tony at all, which is completely out of character, and no record of him making any financial transactions.

Following the recent appeals to trace Anthony, a number of people came forward to say they believed they had seen him locally. Unfortunately, these sightings were not confirmed and he remains missing.

Tony is white, around 5ft. 8 inches in height, with short brown hair and a slim build. He has tattoos on his lower arms, one which says Mum and Dad and Marianne.

Chief Inspector Brian Shaw said: “We are continuing in our efforts to locate Tony and have received assistance and support from the local community.

“We are trying to locate a woman who was friends with Tony around 5 years ago, here name is Charmaine or Charlene. I would appeal to this lady to contact us as she could provide us with information which could prove vital to our ongoing efforts to locate Tony.

"Tony comes from close-knit family and they are extremely distressed by his disappearance. They just want to know he is safe and well.

“He is habitual in his routine in the places he visits and as there has been no record of him visiting any of those local stores or premises, we are deeply concerned.

“I am therefore asking local people to remember that Tony is still missing and to look out for him and pass on any information that anyone may have to police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Irvine Police Station via 101, quoting incident 0936 of 29 December 2017.
