Two kids injured in crash near Dundonald

Road Policing Officers are continuing enquiries and appealing for witnesses to a serious road crash near Dundonald on Wednesday 16 December 2015. Around 8:20am on Wednesday morning, a road crash took place on Old Loans Road, Dundonald involving a black Ford Focus and blue Mini car. Emergency services attended and the 35 year-old male driver of the Ford Focus and his two passengers, a 13 year-old girl and an 11 year-old boy, were taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital. The 35 year-old man was released after treatment for minor injuries, however the 13 year-old girl and 11 year-old boy were later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. The 11 year-old boy is being treated for a serious head injury, and hospital staff describe his condition as critical. The 13 year-old girl is being treated for her injuries, and hospital staff describe her condition as stable. The 49 year-old female driver of the Mini was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries. Hospital staff describe her condition as stable. Old Loans Road was closed for a period of approximately 8 hours to allow Road Policing Officers to conduct their investigations. Sergeant Ian Thornton from the Divisional Road Policing Department based at Irvine is appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or any person who may have been on Old Loans Road at the time of the incident to contact his office on 101.
