The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after two cats were abandoned in a carrier at Altonhill Avenue in Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted after the cats were discovered by a member of the public.

Scottish SPCA Inspector Paul Tuchewicz said, “These cats were cruelly left in the carrier and whoever abandoned them couldn’t have been sure they would be helped.

“They’re now in safe hands being cared for by the team at our centre in Lanarkshire where they have been named Mollie and Maisie. They’ll stay in our care until we can find them a loving forever home.

“If anyone recognises Molly and Maisie we’d urge them to contact us as we are keen to identify the person responsible for dumping them.”

Anyone concerned about the welfare of an animal should contact the Scottish SPCA animal helpline on 03000 999 999.
