Train passengers braced for second day of strikes

There is no breakthrough in the bitter dispute between the RMT union and Scotrail about driver-only trains.

A second wave of industrial action is set to get underway leading to disruption to a number of train services across Scotland.

The Scottish Government's Transport Minister Humza Yousaf is urging the travelling public to plan their journeys and where possible to think about working from home, car-sharing and using buses to get to work.

Mr Yousaf says: "The issue of safety is a top priority on our railways, so I'm very disappointed that we're planning for a second round of industrial action when further dialogue between Scotrail and the RMT union is still an option.

"It is the travelling public that loses out in situations like this, so I once again urge both parties to reopen meaningful discussions to work towards an agreement that stops further strikes from going ahead."
