“Here there be dragons! And goblins! And dinosaurs!” will be the resounding cry in Cumnock on Saturday 12 March as a goblin queen and her giant puppet dragon take over the Glaisnock Centre from 11.00am until 3.00pm.

It’s time to enter the world of myth and legend and join the goblin queen and her smoke breathing dragon on their quest to discover why the dragon’s eggs are no longer hatching. She may tether her beast to an audience member as she investigates, and some may be called on to help incubate one of the dragons’ eggs!

And then it will be time to learn all you ever needed to know about dinosaur training, with the help of Hal, the last dinosaur trainer on earth. He’s known since the day he was born that he was destined to train dinosaurs. There’s only one problem... he’s never actually met one. Until a chance encounter with a mysterious rock launches him into a Jurassic adventure.

This free, fantastical day has been organised by Fiona Nicolson, Town Centre Manager with East Ayrshire Council’s Economic Development Team. She says: “This fun event yet again proves that town centres are for more than simply shopping. They’re a space for communities, for fun and entertainment for all ages. Over the past few years we’ve run some fantastic arts and crafts workshops, activities and theatrical events in the Glaisnock Centre. They’ve always been very well supported and popular. This is the last before the centre closes for redevelopment. And I’m sure it will be the best yet!

“In addition to the interactive drama, there will be face-painting, instruction in how to walk like a dinosaur, and a chance to make a clay dinosaur, a dragon headdress or help colour in our giant dragon and dinosaur themed art pentagon – plenty to entertain all the family.”

Dragons and Dinosaurs runs from 11.00am until 3.00pm on Saturday 12 March at Glaisnock Centre. Admission is free.
