Thief steals car keys, then car from Kilmarnock house

An investigation is underway after a thief broke into a house in Kilmarnock - stealing car keys and making off with a vehicle in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police Scotland is appealing for information following a robbery that occurred in the early hours of Monday 25 April 2016 in Kilmarnock.

Around 2:20am a man entered a property in Westfield Road and stole a pair of car keys before driving off with the owner’s white Ford Focus.

The owner contacted police who located the car nearby. The suspect then abandoned the car on Kirkton Road before running off along Glassnock Road in the direction of Bringan Road.

The man is described as around 21 to 25 years old, 5’5”, of slim build, with short dark hair and stubble. He was also wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective Constable Robert Blackley from Kilmarnock CID said: “I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of Monday morning to get in touch. “You can contact officers at Kilmarnock CID on 101 or CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
