Teens in hospital after Beith road smash

Officers at the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Irvine are continuing enquiries and appealing for witnesses after a road crash in Beith on Sunday 15 November 2015.

Around 09.50am on Sunday morning, a 17 year-old man was driving a silver Honda Civic southbound on the A737 near to its junction with the B777, when it was involved in a collision with a white Peugeot 207 being driven northbound by a 64 year-old man.

Emergency services attended and the 17 year-old driver of the Honda Civic and his 16 year-old male passenger were taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock where they are both being treated for serious injuries.

The 64 year-old driver of the Peugeot was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was released after treatment.

Sergeant Ian Thornton from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Irvine Police Office is appealing for information. He said today:

“Enquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash and at this time, I would appeal to any witnesses who were in the area at the time, or anyone who saw the vehicles prior to the crash to contact us on 101.”
