Have you thought about the hidden dangers of your kids outdoor toys?

It is something we're being encouraged to consider this Child Safety Week especially as the summer weather shows no sign of leaving Ayrshire.

Trading Standards say things like bikes and paddling pools can all cause avoidable injuries.

It is a lesson one Ayr mum learned the hard way.

Early this year we told you about Emma Bozner - she social media to tell how she found her three year old son Brooklyn with a slinky toy wrapped round his neck.

She tried to free him but struggled to get scissors to cut through the metal coil - she had only left him for a couple of minutes while she packed his bag for nursery - she took to Facebook to warn other mums and dads to keep a close eye on their kids.

The warning comes the day after a survey found our obsession with smartphones could be putting our children at risk.

Almost one in five Scottish parents admitted their kids have had an accident or near miss because they were distracted by a text or notification.
