Steven Gerrard is set to miss Rangers' crucial Europa League play-off with Alashkert after not boarding their flight to Armenia.

The Ibrox confirmed positive coronavirus cases in their camp on Tuesday and revealed those individuals and close contacts are self-isolating.

The club didn't say who would be missing their trip but Gerrard did not appear to be with the squad at Glasgow Airport on Wednesday.

Assistant Gary McAllister was there and is expected to lead the side.

Captain James Tavernier also wasn't present while goalkeepers Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin look set to miss out too.

Ryan Kent, Scott Wright and Calvin Bassey were also nowhere to be seen.

In their statement, Rangers said: “Rangers can confirm that during our testing schedule, we have received positive Covid-19 tests.

“Those identified as positive are now in self-isolation along with ‘close contacts’.

“We have followed best practice in our procedures and protocols".
