Skin Cancer Warning From Cumnock Woman

Ashley Alexander from Cumnock was a self-confessed "sun worshipper" who spent hours bathing in the sun's harmful rays with nothing protecting her skin.

Instead she would lather herself in baby oil and carrot oul and let herself burn.

All this to achieve the perfect tan.

But that all changed in October 2014 when she was diagnosed with Melanoma - a deadly form of skin cancer.

The 10 months following the diagnosis involved numerous hospital trips and several moles being removed.

28 year-old Ashley is now left permanently scarred and terrified of the sun.

She was lucky and has been given the all clear and is using her experience as a warning to others.

She spoke with our reporter Natasha Reid...
