Rangers full-back Nathan Patterson and Celtic midfielder David Turnbull have been named on the shortlist for the Scottish Football Writers' young player award.

Hibernian left-back Josh Doig is also on the four-man list for the SFWA Doubletree by Hilton young player of the year, along with the previous winner Lewis Ferguson.

Patterson, 19, has made 14 appearances this season and is currently serving a ban for breaching lockdown rules.

Doig established himself as Hibernian's regular left-back at the start of the campaign and the 18-year-old has played 32 times.

Celtic midfielder Turnbull has netted nine goals, one of them with Motherwell, and been one of the Hoops' best players since December.

Ferguson, who won the prize last season, has scored 10 goals from midfield for Aberdeen.
