A series of public consultation sessions will be running 16-19 March to find out what people think about Prestwick and to look at ways to improve the town centre.
A series of public consultation sessions will be running 16-19 March to find out what people think about Prestwick and to look at ways to improve the town centre.
South Ayrshire Council will be working with residents, local businesses and urban design specialists to shape the future of the town centre.
The consultation sessions called ‘charrettes’ are an opportunity for locals to work with a team of experts to create a high-level vision for the wider regeneration of Prestwick.
The drop-in charrette sessions are running at the Prestwick Community Education Centre on Caerlaverock Road:
Wednesday 16 March 5:00pm - 7:30pm (activities and projects for the town)
Thursday 17 March 1:00pm – 3:30pm (Enterprise and Youth)
Thursday 17 March 5:30pm – 7:30pm (Supporting Business)
Friday 18 March 1:00pm – 3:30pm (Health and Social Care and Leisure)
Friday 18 March 5:00pm – 7:00pm (Heritage and Vacant Land / Civic Pride)
On Saturday 19 March, the venue switches to the 65 club on Prestwick, Main St
The action plan will be discussed at this session which runs from 12pm – 3pm
Councillor Bill McIntosh, Leader of South Ayrshire Council and Chair of the Community Planning Partnership Board said:” These charrettes are a chance to make the most of Prestwick’s many assets and protect them for future generations. They are also an opportunity to identify problem areas and perhaps more importantly find sustainable solutions.
“Past consultation events in Girvan and Maybole have proved popular and I am sure the creative juices will flow in Prestwick too. At the end of these sessions we will be much closer to having a new vision for the town centre with clear plans and drawings. The resulting masterplan will identify our priorities helping secure Prestwick’s future as a successful destination to live, work and visit.
“This is an opportunity for people not only to have a say on the future of Prestwick but to actually shape it.
