Detectives hunting for an on-the-run prisoner reckon he could be in Ayrshire.

39 year old Robert Wilson should have returned to Castle Huntly prison near Dundee yesterday but he never.

He was on a 'home leave' period in Glasgow.

Police are revealing he has connections to Kilmarnock.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "He is described as being five feet nine inches tall, of medium build with a bald/shaved head. He also has tear-drop shaped tattoos underneath each eye and a tattoo with two lines of writing on the front of his neck."

"Anyone who has seen him, or who knows where he is, should call Police Scotland on 101, or speak to any police officer. Alternatively information can be passed via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
