Police are hunting two men in balaclavas who subjected a teenager to a 'frightening' attack in an Ayrshire town.

The 19-year-old was dragged from her white Vauxhall Corsa and assaulted at around 11.35pm on Monday August 14.

It happened while she was parking the car on the town's Kerrmuir Road.

She was taken to Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock with injuries to her face, but was later released.

The only description of the suspects is that they were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told us: "At this time there would appear to be no motive for this attack which was a frightening ordeal for the woman and a very cowardly attack by the two men.

"Officers are checking CCTV and carrying out door to door enquiries in the area and would appeal to anyone who may have seen the incident take place, or who may have any information that will assist with their enquiries, to contact Kilmarnock Police Station on 101 quoting reference number 4467/14/08/17.

"Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111."
