Pictures released as police try to identify man knocked down in Kilbirnie

Police are appealing for help to identify a man who was knocked down in Kilbirnie on Monday.

He was struck by a vehicle on the B780 at around 6.20am and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he is in a serious condition.

Officers are releasing images of the man in the hope that someone recognises him.

Sergeant Kevin Blackley said: “Despite substantial effort by officers to ascertain the identity of the man, we still do not know who he is. We are now seeking the assistance of the public in the hope someone recognises him.

“He sustained serious injuries in the incident and it’s imperative his family is found. Once his identify has been established, we can then contact his family and notify them of what has happened."
