Police are looking for help from the public to trace a man who’s been missing from Kilbirnie since Wenesday night.

69-year-old Michael John Mills, known as John, from Holmhead, was last seen within his home by a family member around 10pm on Wednesday, but wasn’t in the house when his daughter woke the next morning .

John is described as 5ft 4, of stocky build with balding grey hair. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket, black tracksuit bottoms with blue and grey shoes.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace John with officers speaking to family, checking CCTV and searching the area.

Inspector Colin Convery, from Irvine Police Station, said:

“We understand that John normally maintains very close contact with his family and his sudden disappearance is completely out of character, therefore we are very concerned for his wellbeing.

“He only moved to the area around three months ago to be nearer his family and has no known friends in the area. He does however enjoy walking and has been known to walk in the Kilbirnie, Glengarnock and wider Garnock Valley area.

“I would appeal for John to get in touch with his family, or Police Scotland, to let us know that he is safe and well.

“Furthermore I would appeal for the help of the public and anyone with any information, or possible sightings, to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers at Irvine Police Station on 101 quoting incident number 1148 of Thursday 26 October.
