Arran to Ardrossan ferry passenger rescued after falling into water

A passenger had to be rescued from the water near Ardrossan after falling from a Caledonian MacBrayne ferry on Monday night.
The MV Isle of Arran was approaching the mainland coast when the unnamed passenger entered the Firth of Clyde.
A rescue boat was quickly scrambled from the ferry and the passenger was recovered to safety before being transferred to the care of the emergency services who were waiting at Ardrossan harbour.
An investigation into the incident will be held.
CalMac bosses have praised the actions of the crew members who rescued the passenger.
Craig Ramsay, Fleet Management Director, CalMac, said: “As the Isle of Arran approached Ardrossan on the evening of Monday 10th
June a passenger entered the water and was quickly recovered using the vessel’s rescue craft, following the emergency procedures regularly exercised by crew.
“An investigation into the circumstances will now follow, in line with our protocol in this situation. I would like to thank all colleagues and the emergency services for their fast response.”
