Around £400 has been stolen from the Farmfoods on Main Street in Ayr after a man entered the shop and threatened two staff members.

Detectives say the suspect who entered the store at around 6.40pm is white, around 5 ft 10 inches in height, with a medium build.

It's claimed he had a gaunt appearance, was unshaven and had discoloured teeth.

He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a khaki jacket with a light coloured fur-trimmed hood and red training shoes with white markings.

Nobody was injured.

Detective Constable Janet Ferguson said: “This store is popular with the local community and I’m sure people would have seen this man.

"Perhaps you saw him before he entered the story or maybe you saw him leave the premises.

"I would ask you to think back and if you have even a small piece of information, then please do pass it on.

“I would add that additional officers will be on patrol in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2935 of 26 March, 2021. "
