North Ayrshire joins in Queen's 90th birthday celebrations
North Ayrshire is set to play its part in the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.

A number of events will be staged across the UK in honour of Her Majesty’s big day on April 21, 2016.
And, as part of the festivities, North Ayrshire will join hundreds of other towns and cities across the UK by taking part in the national celebration of lighting beacons.
So far, more than 250 organisations across the UK have confirmed they will light beacons simultaneously to give people the opportunity to pay homage to our longest-reigning monarch.
Our beacon will be lit on Cannon Hill, Ardrossan, close to the site of the ancient castle ruins, as a visual celebration of the Queen’s birthday.
Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Connected Communities, said: “There is a long tradition in Britain of lighting beacons on royal occasions, such as jubilees, weddings, coronations and birthdays.
“These events help bring communities together in celebration and our lighting of the beacon at Cannon Hill will be part of the UK-wide celebrations.
“We are delighted to support The Queen’s 90th Birthday Beacons and we hope that residents will join us to mark this special event.”
At the North Ayrshire event, there will be a special welcome for residents who share the same birthday as the Queen.
