Police say they are now "extremely concerned" for the safety of missing Borders teenager Duncan Sim who has not been seen since he vanished in Fife two weeks ago.

However, new CCTV footage reveals he was alone in the Links area of St Andrews, where he is studying at university, between 11.24pm and 11.33pm on Wednesday, March 14.

And officers hope releasing the images will help in the search for the first-year chemistry student.

Duncan is pictured outside Pilmour Clubhouse, near to the Eden Golf Course in St Andrews wearing a grey-coloured suit jacket, white shirt, blue and white striped tie, and brown-coloured shoes.

The 19-year-old former Berwickshire High School pupil had been on a night out at Madras Rugby Club on Old Station Road before he disappeared.

Inspector Karen Muirhead of Fife’s Police Division said: “We are committed to our search for Duncan and information now obtained from CCTV enquiries supports him being in the area near to the Eden Course shortly after he left Madras Rugby Club.

“He appears to be alone but it is unclear what direction he left this area in.

“I would again appeal to the public to think back to Wednesday, March 14, and consider if they saw Duncan, or a man matching his description in the area. We hope that this image jogs someone’s memory and can give us that vital piece of information that we need in order to trace him.

“It has now been two-weeks since Duncan was last seen and we remain extremely concerned for his welfare. We continue to keep Duncan’s family updated with our enquiries and any developments."

WATCH AGAIN: Let’s hope the family can get their boy back - Berwickshire High School Headteacher John Clarke makes an appeal to find former Depute Headboy Duncan Sim, who is reported missing in St Andrews.

Police have drafted in a force helicopter and mounted officers to help in the search for the missing teenager over the past two weeks. They've reviewed CCTV footage and carried out extensive door-to-door enquiries, and they've been supported by hundreds of volunteers from the local community and his hometown of Duns.

Duncan is described as a white man, 6ft tall, and of medium build, with green eyes and brown hair.

Inspector Muirhead added: “I would like to extend my thanks to the public and the media for their assistance in sharing our appeals for information, and to our partner agencies and civilian volunteers who have helped in the search for Duncan.

“I would ask anyone with information, no matter how small, that can help with our inquiries in tracing Duncan, to come forward and report this to us as soon as possible.”

Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 2987 of March 15.
