Mass coronavirus vaccination programme begins in Ayrshire
People aged between 65 and 79 are being vaccinated.
The mass coronavirus vaccination programme begins across Ayrshire and Arran today.
People aged between 65 and 79 will be invited to one of 38 pop up vaccination hubs across the region for their appointment.
The vaccine is being rolled out in priority and age groups. All appointment slots are between 8am and 8pm and will be at the centre closest to your postcode.
Those aged over 80 or who are shielding will continue receiving their jag at GP surgeries.
NHS Ayrshire & Arran Chief Executive John Burns said: “Our teams have been working round the clock to pull together all the elements of this programme which is the biggest vaccination effort the country has ever seen. The vaccine offers protection against COVID-19 and I would encourage everyone to take the opportunity to be vaccinated when offered."
The mass vaccination programme will continue throughout the Spring and further into 2021.
Those given their first dose will be invited to have their second within the 12 week schedule.
