Man seriously assaulted in car theft bid in Ayr

The 20 year old was punched after refusing to hand over his keys.

A 20 year old man has been seriously assaulted by two men in Ayr, who demanded he hand over his car keys before punching him in the face.

He was sitting in his car on Whitletts Road, near Tesco, when he was approached.

The man tried to drive off with the two suspects in pursuit on foot banging on the car's windscreen.

Officers attended however, the man did not require hospital treatment.

The first suspect is white, approximately, 6 ft. tall, in his mid-20s, with a slim build, short dark hair and an unkempt beard.

He was wearing a bobble hat, dark, shiny fitted jacket with dark grey jogging trousers and black training shoes with a white trim.

The second suspect is white, approximately 5 ft. 10 inches in height, mid-20s and a slim build, short dark hair and dark stubble.

He was wearing a dark blue zipper top with a white logo on the left side, light grey jogging trousers and dark training shoes.

Detective Constable Paul McRoberts said: “While the man did not require medical assistance, he has been left badly shaken by the unprovoked level of violence.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to contact us.

"Any small piece of information could prove vital in helping us locate the men responsible for this attack so please do contact us with any information.”
