Man In Hospital After Being Run Over In Kilmarnock

A 53 year-old man hit by a car in Kilmarnock's John Finnie Street last night is said to be in a serious condition in hospital.

A 53 year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car on John Finnie Street in Kilmarnock on Wednesday 24 June 2015.

Around 2030 hours on Wednesday 24 June 2015, the 53 year-old man was struck by a black Peugeot 304 estate while crossing John Finnie Street.

Emergency services attended and the injured man was taken to hospital by ambulance. Staff at Crosshouse Hospital describe his condition as serious.

Sergeant Iain Pittams from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Irvine is appealing for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone who may have seen the pedestrian in the area shortly before. He said today:

“Police enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the crash and I would urge anyone with information that may assist our investigation to contact Police Scotland on 101.

“We have a particular interest in anyone who may have seen a black Peugeot 304 estate in Kilmarnock Town Centre prior to the incident.

The information you have may not seem like much, but as part of our broader investigation, it may prove critical in our investigation”
