Man escapes unhurt after being rescued from water off the Ayrshire coast

A helicopter and lifeboats were called to Craig Tara beach on Monday evening

The casualty was airlifted to hospital in Glasgow

A man's been rescued safe and well from the sea off Ayrshire, according to the coastguard.

Emergnecy services, including a helicopter, a lifeboat from Troon and coastguard vessels from Ayr and Ardrossan were called to Craig Tara beach shortly before midnight on Monday.

Following their search they rescued a man who was in the water.

He was checked over by paramedics, but a spokesperson for the coastguard said he escaped unhurt.
