A76: Man dies after being struck by lorry

The crash happened in New Cumnock on Thursday

A man has died after being struck by a lorry in East Ayrshire.

It happened on the A76 in New Cumnock around 3.20pm on Thursday.

The 36-year-old man died at the scene.

The road was closed for several hours while police investigation work took place.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received report of a crash involving a 36-year-old man who was struck by a lorry on the A76 in New Cumnock around 3.20pm on Thursday, 14 October, 2021.

“The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The road was re-opened around 8.40pm and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.”
